Kathmandu, October 10 – Former chairperson of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Rabina Thapa has made a strong appeal on the occasion of the association's 22nd foundation day and Non-Resident Nepali Day (October 11), calling for unity, transparency, and restoration of the organization's reputation.
In a message issued on social media, she said that the organization's core purpose is weakening due to internal disputes, selfish tendencies, and personal greed within the association. Thapa wrote, "A lot of drama and acting was seen from those who talked about unifying the association. The era of those who are weakening the organization and playing with the rights of millions of non-resident Nepalis must end now."
She pointed out the need to keep the NRNA free from political influence and personal interests, saying, "The time has come — we should stop the drama of fighting for positions under the pretense of 'meeting' in the name of the organization. The organization is our common home, not personal property."
Thapa said that she will always be in favor of unity and suggested that those who pursue personal interests in the name of the organization should choose the path of reform or healing.
Finally, she called on all NRNs to unite and restore the reputation, pride, and credibility of the organization, saying, "Let us all restore the reputation, unity, and pride of the organization together. Jai NRN!"
Non-Resident Nepali Day is celebrated by Nepalis around the world on October 11 every year. This year, the association is celebrating its 22nd anniversary.
