The voting process for selecting the new leadership of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) USA began on Sunday. About 13,000 members of the association will vote for their preferred candidates through ballots sent via email and mobile. This time, there will be a three-way competition between Bhanu Kharel, Satendra Sah, and Ramhari Adhikari for the post of president. Japan's agriculture minister forced to resign after insensitive comments about rice prices

Japan's Agriculture Minister Taku Ito has resigned. Agriculture Minister Ito resigned after public anger over insensitive comments he made as rice prices in Japan rose to a three-year high. Last April, rice prices had nearly doubled compared to April 2024. At the time, Agriculture Minister Ito said he did not know the price because he had never bought rice. "I never buy rice myself. My supporters give me so much that I can even sell it," Ito said at a party event in Saga Prefecture. Citizens who have been hit by the rise in rice prices have strongly criticized the government after his remarks. Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba also condemned the Agriculture Minister's remarks, and Ito resigned on Wednesday. "I could not understand the public's feelings.  "That's why my ethics do not allow me to stay in a position where the government's policies are implemented," he told reporters after submitting his resignation to the prime minister. Prime Minister Ishiba is preparing to appoint former Environment Minister Shinjiro Koizumi as Agriculture Minister in Ito's place.
