"Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has left for Thailand."

Kathmandu, April 1 – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today departed for Thailand on an official visit, where he will also participate in the BIMSTEC Summit. The Prime Minister left for Bangkok, Thailand's capital, at 1 PM today.

This marks the first official visit by a Nepali Prime Minister to Thailand in 65 years since diplomatic relations were established. PM Oli emphasized the significance of this visit, noting that Bangkok—a key "gateway" for Nepal's engagement with non-neighboring countries—had not received such high-level engagement until now.

Key Agenda of the Visit:

  • Royal Meeting: PM Oli will hold talks with Thailand’s King and counterparts.

  • Agreements Signed:

    • tourism and cultural cooperation agreement will be inked.

    • Six MoUs between private sectors of both countries will be signed in the presence of the two Prime Ministers.

  • Engagements:

    • Discussions with prominent Thai business leaders.

    • speech at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).

BIMSTEC Summit Participation

PM Oli will address the BIMSTEC Summit on April 4 and is expected to hold sideline meetings with other leaders as opportunities arise.
