"Earnings of 'Kesari 2' Bring Relief to Akshay Kumar"

Kathmandu. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has found relief with the earnings of his latest film, Kesari 2. The film has earned 17.25 crore Indian rupees across India in its first two days of release.

Titled Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, this courtroom drama opened with 7.75 crore rupees on its first day and collected 9.50 crore rupees on the second day, Saturday. The film stars Akshay alongside R. Madhavan and Ananya Pandey in lead roles. At a time when Akshay's films have been consistently underperforming, the earnings of this movie have brought him some relief. However, compared to the 2019 release (Kesari), this film's earnings are lower.

Indian film analysis agency Sacnilk has projected that the film could earn around 30 crore rupees in its first weekend. Akshay, who has been delivering back-to-back flops amid Bollywood's recent sluggish box office performance, seems to have regained some confidence with this film. The movie is expected to have a longer run as its word-of-mouth in India is positive.

While the film, which revolves around Indian nationalism, has seen modest earnings in Nepal during its first weekend, it faces competition at the Indian box office from Sunny Deol's Jatt, which has challenged Kesari 2. Despite a drop in earnings in its second weekend, Jatt has earned around 70 crore rupees in 10 days.
