The voting process for selecting the new leadership of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) USA began on Sunday. About 13,000 members of the association will vote for their preferred candidates through ballots sent via email and mobile. This time, there will be a three-way competition between Bhanu Kharel, Satendra Sah, and Ramhari Adhikari for the post of president. All three candidates were intensifying the final phase of activities to woo voters before the election. Viral Videos Show Violent Clashes During Royalist Protest in Tin Kune, Kathmandu

Videos and images of violent activities during a royalist demonstration in Tin Kune, Kathmandu, have gone viral on social media. One particular video from Koteshwar has gained significant attention.

The viral footage shows a man pulling out a pistol while others are seen carrying batons. There is public curiosity about who these individuals are and whether the police have arrested them. However, it has been revealed that they were not protesters but actually police officers themselves.

They were identified as officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau stationed in Koteshwar.

According to SP Narayan Adhikari, the bureau’s spokesperson, a police team was returning from an operation on Friday afternoon when the protest turned violent. The demonstrators had entered the inner alleys of Koteshwar.

SP Adhikari stated that the protesters stopped their vehicle. “The team was returning from the operation. While heading back to the office, they were stopped by the protesters. Our bureau officers work in civilian attire,” he said.

The police officers tried to stop the protesters but failed. Shortly after, the demonstrators set fire to a government vehicle.

“They drew their pistols for self-defense, but the officers did not fire,” Adhikari clarified.

During the royalist protest, multiple vehicles were set ablaze. Protesters burned eight vehicles belonging to the Herbal Medicine Processing Center in Balkumari and targeted Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar.

So far, police have arrested over 105 individuals involved in the incident. Authorities are discussing what charges to file against them.

Meanwhile, protest commander Durga Prasai remains at large. Those already arrested include Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Vice President Rabindra Mishra, General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana, and members of Swagat Nepal.
