UAE's biggest cash prize 'First GCD Cup' won by Nakheel Gorkha, runner-up New Boys Football Club


UAE, Nakheel Gorkha Football Club has won the title of 'First GCD Cup-2025'. It is said to be the biggest cash prize Nepali football tournament ever organized by the Nepali community in the UAE.

The tournament, organized by GCD Royal Gorkha Football Club, was held from February 22 to 23 at the football ground of Dulsco Camp in Dubai. The runner-up of the tournament was New Boys Football Club, while the Fair Player Club title was won by Mechi Mahakali Football Club.


Nakheel Gorkha Football Club, which won the first place in the tournament, received a trophy and a prize of 8,01 UAE Dirhams.


The runner-up New Boys Football Club received 4,01 UAE Dirhams. 16 teams participated in the tournament.


Mechi Mahakali Football Club has been awarded the title of Fair Player Club in the ‘First GCD Cup-2025’, the largest-ever Nepali football tournament in the UAE.

The opening ceremony of the first phase of the two-phase competition began at 9 pm on February 22, while the second phase of the competition, which lasted for 15 hours, concluded on February 23 with the closing ceremony.

The opening ceremony, chaired by Ujjal Shrestha, eldest son of GCD Group Chairman Ramesh Shrestha, and hosted by Dipendra Poudel, Labor Counselor at the Embassy, ​​was graced by the presence of Pankaj Lal Karna, Labor Attaché at the Embassy, ​​Bikash Shahi, President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association UAE, Bhawani Prasad Timalsina, President of the Nepali Public Relations Committee UAE, Baburam Sapkota, President of the Pravasi Nepali Forum UAE, Laxman Khanal, President of the Nepali Jana Pragatisheel Forum, NRNA Secretary Manoj Kumar Shrestha, Nepali Congress Mahasamiti Member Dinesh Bahadur Gurung, Patron of the Public Relations Committee UAE and NRNA ICC Member Khem Lal Basnet, among others. The closing ceremony organized after the game was chaired by Ramesh Shrestha, President of the GCD Group and Deputy Regional Coordinator of the Non-Resident Nepali Association Middle East, and was attended by Nepali Congress Spokesperson and former Minister Dr. The event was held under the chief guestship of Prakash Sharan Mahat.
