Kathmandu. Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna and Akshay Khanna’s period drama ‘Chhawaa’ has had a bumper opening at the Indian box office. The film, which was released on Valentine’s Day, collected a net collection of Rs 31 crore on its first day in India and also set 6 new records in terms of first-day earnings.
It has also become the biggest opening film for Bollywood in 2025. It has also achieved great success in terms of global earnings. According to Saknilk, the craze for ‘Chhawaa’ was also seen in the foreign market on Friday. The film collected a gross of Rs 10 crore abroad on its first day. The gross in India was Rs 37.25 crore.
The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, has collected a worldwide gross collection of Rs 47.25 crore on its opening day. This is the biggest opening of Vicky Kaushal’s career so far. Earlier, his blockbuster film 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' had a business of Rs 82 crore on its opening day. This is the actor's first film to earn more than Rs 10 crore on the first day.
'Chhawa' has a budget of Rs 130 crore. It is expected to easily join the Rs 100 crore club by the first weekend or Monday. In the film, Vicky plays the role of Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This is the actor's third biographical film after 'Sardar Udham' and 'Sam Bahadur'.
According to the data released by the film's producers, apart from Saknilak, 'Chhawa' has earned Rs 50 crore worldwide on the first day. While the net collection in India is Rs 331 million.
Another important thing about Vicky Kaushal's film is that no big film will be released before this from Bollywood to South. Not only this, there is no big film before the release of 'Sikander' on March 28. Due to which the film is expected to benefit at the box office.
