Hollywood shocked with the 'Furiosa' flop, has the crisis started in the summer?

Generally, the audience reaches the theaters for blockbuster movies in the month of May. But this year has had a disappointing start in Hollywood. If this matter is to be improved, new ideas are necessary.

Summer is just starting but Hollywood movies are already falling prey to flops. This is like being drowned by a river during a picnic. This flop started with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt starrer 'Fall Guy'. It is possible that the audience did not reach the theater to see this film. Another chapter was added to this crisis at this time when the latest series of the popular series 'Mad Max', 'Furiosa' and 'The Garfield' had a disappointing opening.

These two films topped the box office during the Memorial Day holiday, but opened poorly. Furiosa collected $32 million and Garfield collected $31.1 million in four days. It did very bad business at the North American box office. This crisis can be compared to 'The Mermaid', which was released around this time last year, when the film topped the box office with $118 million in its opening weekend. This is the worst Memorial Day business in the last 30 years in the American film industry. According to ComScore, ticket sales in the US and Canada have declined by 22 percent this year.

In the next few months, the films 'Bad Boys: Ride or Die', Inside Out 2, A Quiet Place: Day One and Twisters are expected to be blockbusters. The biggest star that this film can boast of is Will Smith. 'A Quiet Place: Day One' is the third series of the horror franchise.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman can save Hollywood from the crisis with "Wolverine" in July. But not much can be said about the business of these unnecessary series of sequels and prequels.

The recent strike of writers and actors in Hollywood is mainly responsible for such incidents. Because of this, Pixar's Elio and Tom Cruise starrer Mission Impossible 8 had to stop production. Due to which both these films have been pushed to next year.

But the strike alone is not responsible for the bad summer. Streaming platforms are also to blame for this, which used to attract both producers and viewers to the big screen.

They were said to patronize movie halls that provide entertainment, films depicting characters from Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, the globe-trotting action film starring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and The Ryans was said to have saved the movie hall.

Oppenheimer and Barbie's success saved Hollywood last summer. The business of these films was only momentary, which could not protect Hollywood's business in the long run.

This does not mean that blockbusters will not come out. They come from time to time. The executives of Marvel and DC are hoping that Captain America: Brave New World and Superman: Legacy will be able to eradicate superhero fatigue when they are released next year. But no one in Hollywood knows anything about how to keep a hit film in theaters regularly.

If summer blockbusters are to be revived, a new way of thinking is necessary.
