The Sanu Tamang Memorial Building, constructed with financial support from the Sagarmatha Gorkha Nepali Youth Community UK, has been officially handed over to Chandevi Secondary School in Thankot.

Following the 2015 earthquake, the school building was severely damaged. The reconstruction efforts were spearheaded by Chiran Rai, a director of the Sagarmatha Gorkha Nepali Youth Community. The construction was completed with financial assistance of approximately 40 lakh Nepali rupees (around £25,000) collected from the Nepali community in the UK.

During a special ceremony held on Wednesday, Member of Parliament Rajendra Kumar KC, Chandragiri Municipality Mayor Ghanshyam Giri, and Chiran Rai jointly handed over the building to the school. Ishwar Lama, former chairman of the school management committee and a youth social worker, played a coordinating role in ensuring the successful completion of the building.

During the program, educational materials were distributed to students, and individuals and organizations contributing to the school’s reconstruction were honored. In his address, Chiran Rai praised the support and cooperation of the Nepali community in the UK. He expressed happiness over the community’s contributions to Nepal’s education sector and reaffirmed his commitment to continue working for the development of educational institutions in Nepal in the coming days.
