The Gen Z movement shook the country, even though prisoners escaped, Sameer Man Singh Basnet remained in jail.
Kathmandu – The Gen Ji movement that took place in Nepal on Bhadra 23 had a huge impact across the country. Thousands of youth took to the streets to protest widely, demanding social justice, democratic rights, and representation of the younger generation. However, the movement was not peaceful but turned violent, resulting in the loss of many young students’ lives. During the protests, chaos spread in various parts of the country, and several public properties were vandalized. The security situation deteriorated due to clashes between police and demonstrators. In the meantime, security challenges arose in various prisons where prisoners were kept. Government sources have confirmed that prisoners escaped from Sundhara, Nakkhu, and Birgunj prisons. However, the famous don Sameer Man Singh Basnet, who is being held at Bhadra Prison in Sundhara, Kathmandu, appeared calm and composed, without trying to escape.
