The ‘Mass Gathering for Unity’ organized at the Hotel Grand Continental in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday reached an agreement to hold the convention. The date was fixed with the agreement of various associations, organizations, patrons, former presidents, office bearers of the Non-Resident Nepali Association Malaysia and various associations. After the agreement, the organization has come together to end the dispute seen in NRNA Malaysia, said ICC Vice President Khagendra Neupane.
According to the agreement, the convention will be held on 30-31 August 2025, new membership and renewal will last for two weeks, effective from 21 July, and the membership fee will be set at 20 ringgit per person.
Addressing the ‘Mass Gathering for Unity’, NRNA ICC Vice President Khagendra Neupane said that the convention should be held in a unified manner without allowing the organization to split. “Renewal of membership and distribution of new membership in two weeks, formation of an election committee next week and holding the election,” he said, proposing, “Malaysia has given a positive message to NRNAs around the world.” He said that despite the disputes at the center, mutual reconciliation and unity are inevitable in Malaysia. “The NCC does not belong to any faction. NCCs of all countries have all-powerful powers. All organizations and political parties in Malaysia should come together and hold a joint convention,” Neupane clarified.
NRNA Malaysia’s outgoing president Binod Thapa pointed out the need to find solutions to problems through dialogue. “Just because a problem has arisen, one should not make a mountain out of a molehill,” he said. “Instead of blaming each other, one should move towards a solution, and now that is what has happened, I am happy.”
NRNA Malaysia Patron Shankar Bahadur Poudel said that there is a culture of mutual support, brotherhood and unity in Nepali society and that the same spirit should be reflected in NRNA as well.
NRNA Malaysia President Rakesh Mahato also agreed with the decision of the large gathering and said that the organization should move forward by forgetting the bitter experiences of the past. “No one can go beyond society,” he said, which is why they all came to an agreement.
Vice President of the organization Indra Bahadur Limbu said that although the previous convention was held as per the agreement between the two presidents to provide leadership in turns, problems arose due to weaknesses in implementation. “Let’s not dwell on the past now, but move towards making the organization prosperous,” he suggested.
Malaysian Tourism Envoy to Nepal and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Malaysia Coordinator Netra KC had expressed happiness over the consensus reached with new energy and unity in NRNA Malaysia and called for moving forward with consensus now.
CPN-UML Malaysia President Dayaram Kumal commented that the organization was becoming weak due to some individuals and pointed out the need to adopt the path of unity, not division, now He said that he was happy that the move was made.
CPN-Maoist Center Malaysia Chairman Prem Pandey said that dialogue is the permanent solution to the problem and that everyone's role is indispensable to maintain the dignity of NRN. He said that he was happy that the current problem has been resolved.
NRN Malaysia Youth Coordinator Raju Lama complained that the conflict at the leadership level has had a negative impact on the youth and asked what they can learn from this.
Mohan Ghimire, representative of the National Youth Association Nepal, said that it was sad to see the organization in a state of disintegration. "NRNA is necessary for the rights and interests of workers and the development of the country," he said.
Kamal Gautam, Chairman of the Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association Malaysia and Vice Chairman of the Public Relations Committee Malaysia, said that problems have arisen in NRN for the past two years due to ego and suggested that attention should be paid to the interests of the organization rather than personal interests.
CPN-UML Malaysia's current Chairman and Businessperson Sher Bahadur Gurung said that the organization was obstructed when the power center protected some people and that the NRNA stood firm on the rights of workers. He expressed the view that they should fight.
Businessman Vijay Mandal complained that everyone was asking for votes during the central elections but now they are being ignored.
NRNA Malaysia Vice President Dil Kumar Kerung said that it was shameful that the previous working committee could not even hold a meeting and warned the leadership not to become a puppet of others.
The participants of the program had called for NRNA Malaysia to move forward with new energy and unity through the common platform.
According to the agreement reached on Sunday, a convention committee will be formed under the chairmanship of President Rakesh Mahato and the responsibility has been given to conduct the convention in a grand manner. All the organizations in Malaysia have signed the agreement. With this agreement, NRNA Malaysia has been unified in Malaysia.
