166 Nepali Prisoners in UAE Granted Amnesty



Kathmandu, – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has granted amnesty to 166 Nepali nationals serving various prison sentences in the country.  


According to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE government issued the pardon on the occasion of Ramadan, the holy month for Muslims, and the Eid festival. The Nepali government has expressed gratitude to the UAE for the amnesty.  


"The Ministry highly values this amnesty, granted on humanitarian grounds, as a symbol of warmth in the bilateral relations between Nepal and the United Arab Emirates," read a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  


The ministry also stated that the Nepali government had taken initiatives through the Nepali Embassy in the UAE to secure the amnesty.
