Stop wasteful spending in the name of the conference: Former Europe Coordinator Acharya

Kathmandu - Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) activist and former Europe Regional Coordinator Narayan Acharya has said that there is no justification for the regional conference being organized in Malta, which will affect the preparations for the unity convention to be held in Kathmandu in May. "As per the Supreme Court's order, the high-level committee has already written to all NCCs not to hold any activities that will affect the unity convention to be held in Kathmandu on May 3-5, 2025. I appeal to all friends not to hold any meeting or conference that will be in contempt of court and will affect the unity of NRNA," Acharya said.

He urged the NCCs of Europe to distribute membership by March 31 and create an environment where they can participate in the unity convention being organized in Kathmandu in large numbers, rather than wasting time and money by participating in the Malta convention.

"It is necessary to come to Nepal and put pressure on the Nepal government on issues such as citizenship, safe immigration, and voting rights of Nepalis in exile, so in the current situation, there is no need to spend millions of euros in the name of a regional conference. Let's come to Kathmandu and discuss the issues to be discussed there," he said. In addition, a flyer has been created on social media claiming that various individuals and organizations have provided support and sponsored the Malta regional conference without permission, creating confusion in the public mind. He said that the Badri KC group should account for all these activities in the future.

Former European coordinator Acharya also criticized the chaotic activities of the Badri KC group, which spent millions of rupees in the name of various conferences in Thailand and Cambodia. "It is necessary for the new working committee to be formed after the convention on May 5 to form an investigation commission and conduct a serious investigation into KC and his team, and legal action will be taken against those who misused the organization's funds," he said. He also demanded that the central secretariat of the association in Baluwatar be immediately handed over to the high-level committee as per the directives of the Supreme Court's Judgment Implementation Directorate.

"This is the last opportunity to save the lost reputation of the NRNA by organizing the Unity Convention, so let's not be misled, let's not waste it," Acharya said.
