The voting process for selecting the new leadership of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) USA began on Sunday. About 13,000 members of the association will vote for their preferred candidates through ballots sent via email and mobile. This time, there will be a three-way competition between Bhanu Kharel, Satendra Sah, and Ramhari Adhikari for the post of president. All three candidates were intensifying the final phase of activities to woo voters before the election. Due to the divisions, disputes, and internal dissatisfaction seen in the last term, this time the members have appeared more cautious in selecting the leadership. In states with a large number of voters, like California, New York, and Texas, members have expressed expectations for the new leadership. Along with the president, there is also competition for other positions, including vice president, general secretary, secretary, and others. All three candidates have entered the field with a pail. This is how the 69th Manaslu Climbing Day was celebrated in Gorkha

The trek, which starts from Arughat in Dhading, ends at Dharapani in Manang via Larke Pass. From Dharapani, one can exit Besishahar in Lamjung, while those who are doing a long trek can exit Muktinath via Thorang Pass on the Annapurna Circuit.
Acharya said that a program was organized at a homestay in Paslang village to promote tourism in Gorkha on the occasion of Manaslu Day.

69th Manaslu Climbing Day was celebrated in Gorkha in this way
On the occasion of the 69th year of the first ascent of Mount Manaslu, the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) Gandaki and the Manaslu Conservation Project (MCAP) have organized separate programs.
On May 9, 1956, Japanese mountaineer Toshio Imanishi and Nepali Gljen Norbu Sherpa climbed Mount Manaslu for the first time.  Manaslu Day is celebrated on the day when the first human footstep was set on the peak of Manaslu.
Organized by TAAN Gandaki, Manaslu Day was celebrated with a tourism promotion program at Paslanggaun Homestay, Gorkha Municipality-5. Manaslu Mountain, 8,156 meters above sea level, is the 8th highest mountain in the world. After a Japanese citizen succeeded in climbing Manaslu for the first time, this mountain is also known as the 'Japanese Mountain'.
TAAN Gandaki Chairman Krishna Prasad Acharya said that after the construction of a motorable road on the trekking route in the Annapurna region, Larke Pass in Manaslu has become an attraction among trekkers.
'The trekking route was destroyed when the motorable road was built in the Annapurna region.  "Manaslu's Larke Pass is now popular among trekkers," he said, "and you can even do a long trek from Manaslu."
He said that when trekking Larke Pass, it takes 21 days to cover Samagaun and 14 days to do just Larke Pass. He also said that trekkers who want to do a month-long trek can go through Manaslu's Larke Pass and pass through Annapurna's Thorangla Pass.
The trek, which starts from Arughat in Dhading, ends at Dharapani in Manang via Larke Pass. From Dharapani, you can go to Besishahar in Lamjung, while those who are doing a long trek can go to Muktinath via Thorang Pass on the Annapurna circuit.
Acharya said that a program was organized at the homestay in Paslang village to promote tourism in Gorkha on the occasion of Manaslu Day.
Sapana Pun, Deputy Mayor of Gorkha Municipality, said that the municipality started celebrating Manaslu Day after declaring Tourism Year 2025.  Earlier, Manaslu Day was celebrated in the Manaslu Conservation Area and Kathmandu.
‘After we declared the tourism year, we also started celebrating Manaslu Day in Gorkha Bazaar,’ she said. ‘Cooperation between the municipality and tourism professionals is necessary to bring tourists coming to Manaslu to Gorkha Bazaar.’
Earlier, the Manaslu trekking route was taken via Gorkha Bazaar, but after starting to go via Arughat in Dhading, Gorkha Bazaar started to lag behind, she said.
Mayor of Gorkha Municipality Krishna Bahadur Rana opined that anyone who wants to understand the history of Nepal should come to Gorkha at least once.
‘Gorkha is a place that carries the history of Nepal, where history is alive,’ said Mayor Rana. ‘Rather than reading about the history of Nepal, one should come to Gorkha to see it.’
He said that the municipality should create an environment where people born in Nepal should visit Gorkha at least once in their lives to promote domestic tourists. He said that Gorkha is rich not only in history but also in nature and culture.
Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki Province Chief Maniraj Lamichhane said that three municipalities in Gandaki have declared 2025 as the tourism year. He said that the initiative taken by Pokhara Metropolitan City, Gorkha Municipality and Gandaki Rural Municipality to promote tourism will be a lesson for other municipalities as well.
“We are promoting tourism by creating interconnections between these three municipalities,” he said. “The exemplary work done by these three municipalities to promote tourism can be a lesson for others as well.”
Lamichhane said that the Tourism Board will include it in the program from now on to make next year’s Manaslu Day grand. He said that since it was the first time that a Japanese citizen had climbed it, discussions have also been held with the Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu to promote Japanese tourists.
“Japanese citizens consider Manaslu as a Japanese mountain.  It will be easy to promote Japanese tourists here,' he said, adding that for this, we are discussing collaboration with the Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu.
The Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) celebrated Manaslu Day in Samagaun, Chumanubri Rural Municipality-1. According to MCAP Chief Santosh Sherchan, on the occasion of the day, three mountaineers who climbed Mount Manaslu, Mingmar Lama, Diki Lhamu Lama and Nangsal Choten Lama, were honored. They are also locals of Samagaun.
Sherchan said that the Manaslu region is important because it is rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage.
