The voting process for selecting the new leadership of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) USA began on Sunday. About 13,000 members of the association will vote for their preferred candidates through ballots sent via email and mobile. "HPV Vaccination for Cancer Prevention Now Available in All Provinces"

 

Kathmandu, April 1 – The Ministry of Health and Population has dispatched Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines to all seven provinces of Nepal for the prevention of cervical cancer.

Key Details:

  • Vaccine Supply:

    • A total of 1,770,020 doses of HPV vaccine have arrived in Nepal with support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.

    • The vaccines are being distributed free of cost nationwide.

  • Vaccination Campaign:

    • Target Group: Schoolgirls (grades 6–10) and out-of-school girls aged 10–14 years (total target: 1,688,900 girls).

    • Campaign Period: February 4 – March 20, 2025 (Magh 22 to Falgun 6, 2081 BS).

  • Province-wise Distribution:

    • Koshi Province: 275,180 doses

    • Madhesh Province: 380,460 doses

    • Bagmati (Hetauda): 125,800 doses

    • Bagmati (Bhaktapur): 218,280 doses

    • Gandaki Province: 130,870 doses

    • Lumbini Province: 298,910 doses

    • Karnali Province: 124,400 doses

    • Sudurpaschim Province: 187,120 doses

Why It Matters:

  • This is Nepal’s nationwide rollout of HPV vaccination to combat cervical cancer, a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women.

  • The initiative is part of a global effort supported by Gavi to ensure equitable access to life-saving vaccines
