Kathmandu. A 180-member main organizing committee has been announced to hold the unity convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). The NRNA high-level committee meeting held on Sunday formed a 180-member main organizing committee, including two representatives of the Nepal government, under the coordination of coordinator Dr. Shesh Ghale, to hold the unity convention on May 3, 4 and 5, informed committee member Binod Kunwar.
As per the Supreme Court's order dated Chaitra 21, committee coordinator Ghale has initiated the process to hold the unity convention. However, the Badri KC group has been uncooperative with the Ghale-led committee.
However, Ghale has initiated the process by saying that the convention will be held on the basis of discussions with legal experts as well as stakeholders from around the world.
The high-level committee led by Ghale, formed as per the Supreme Court's mandate, includes Upendra Mahato, Devman Hirachan, Ram Pratap Thapa, Jiva Lamichhane, Bhaban Bhatta, Kumar Panta, Binod Kunwar, Kul Acharya, Rabina Thapa, Janaki Gurung, Umesh Kumar Pudasaini and Badri KC. However, KC has not participated in the committee meeting so far.
Similarly, Kunwar said that Aruna Joshi and Pushkar Nepal are also members as representatives of the Nepal government for facilitation. They are automatically in the main organizing committee.
Similarly, the main organizing committee has been formed with representation from the Asia Pacific region, the Americas region, the European region, the Middle East region, and the African region.
Similarly, the committee, which has already prepared its working procedures, has also formed various sub-committees. Accordingly, Binod Kunwar is the coordinator of the National Coordination Council General Convention Facilitation Sub-committee, and Lok Dahal is the member secretary.
Similarly, under the regional coordination committees, Chintamani Sapkota, Tharka Sen, Chitra Subedi, Prem Gurung are members in the European region and Buddi Subedi, BR Lama, Anjani Raj Bhattarai, Krishna Pokharel are members in the Americas region, while Thakur Dhungana, RC Pant, Bhavani Timalsina are members in the Middle East region, Khagendra Neupane, Balram Shrestha, Prakash Dhamala, Narendra Basnet are members in the Asia Pacific region, and Krishna Giri, Keshab Kadel are members in the Oceania region.
Similarly, a subcommittee for finance has been formed under the leadership of Kul Acharya, a subcommittee for delegates membership under the leadership of Janaki Gurung, and a subcommittee for publicity and legislation under the leadership of Rabina Thapa.
Similarly, another coordination committee including Jiva Lamichhane has been formed for unity with all parties.
Especially after the Supreme Court decided to hold a unity general convention in the NRNA dispute on Chaitra 21, the other party had gone to the Supreme Court against the correspondence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the last week of Chaitra that prohibited them from working. According to which, the Supreme Court had cleared the way for the NRNA led by Badri KC, who came to power after the 11th general convention, to work in last Shrawan.
After the same decision, the KC side has been rejecting the Ghale-led committee, saying that they have received official recognition. In such a situation, some confusion has arisen when Ghale announced the date of the unity convention. Similarly, KC has also announced that the general convention will be held in October.
However, senior advocate Shambhu Thapa and advocate Saroj Krishna Ghimire, who argued for the petitioner in the case of Rajesh Shamsher Rana, which was decided on Chaitra 21, have said that the responsibility of holding the unity convention lies with the Ghale committee since the first decision was not overturned even after the second decision. It is said that now there is no alternative to holding the unity convention to implement the decision.
