The voting process for selecting the new leadership of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) USA began on Sunday. About 13,000 members of the association will vote for their preferred candidates through ballots sent via email and mobile. This time, there will be a three-way competition between Bhanu Kharel, Satendra Sah, and Ramhari Adhikari for the post of president. All three candidates were intensifying the final phase of activities to woo voters before the election. Due to the divisions, disputes, and internal dissatisfaction seen in the last term, this time the members have appeared more cautious in selecting the leadership. In states with a large number of voters, like California, New York, and Texas, members have expressed expectations for the new leadership. Along with the president, there is also competition for other positions, including vice president, general secretary, secretary, and others. All three candidates have entered the field with a pail. The Problem is Behind The Surgery, Cutting Expenses?

Some people have the problem of congenital blindness, while others develop low vision problems as they grow older. Cataract is the leading cause of blindness in the world. Cataract is a disease in which the light of the eye becomes dim and the vision is lost. Cataract is one of the main causes of blindness and low vision in Nepal.

The eye has a natural transparent lens. If the white spot on the lens increases or becomes thicker, the transparency of the eye becomes blurred. Therefore, the decrease in the ability to see is called cataract. With age, every cell in the body changes. In the same way, the transparent lens in the eye also changes. Especially after the age of 50, the problem of cataracts is more common. Which is called age related cataract.

Cataracts cause problems such as difficulty seeing and blurring of the eyes. In addition, there is a fear of losing the vision gradually as the eyesight gradually decreases.

After cataract, its treatment is surgery. During its surgery, the old lens is removed and an artificial lens is placed. The membrane that covers the lens in the eye is removed by making a small hole and an artificial lens is placed. This surgery is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures and one of the most successful procedures.

If the lenses made in Nepal and India are used for surgery, the minimum cost is 7 to 15 thousand. According to your interest, if you keep lenses made in America, Germany, etc., the price of lenses may be expensive.

Other Causes and Treatments for Blindness

Glaucoma

If the pressure inside the eye is increasing and the veins are drying up, the field of vision that the eye can see is decreasing and the vision is gradually decreasing. The causes of this disease can be different.

A type of fluid (aqueous humor) is produced in the anterior part of the eye. If there is a blockage in its production or flow, it gets trapped inside the eyeball and the pressure in the eye starts to increase. This pressure destroys the nerves that send signals from the eye to the brain. Since this nerve is sensitive, it stops working even if there is a slight pressure. As a result, vision becomes weak. If not treated in time, it can lead to permanent vision loss. Treatment of hemorrhoids is through surgery, laser treatment and medication. Surgery may cost from 10,000 to 30,000.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy affects the retina of the patient due to diabetes. Due to diabetes, the veins of the body are affected. It damages the blood vessels of the eye membrane. There are signs of bleeding in the inner membrane of the eye, swelling of the eye membrane and if not treated in time, excessive bleeding in the eye and shrinking of the eye membrane are seen. These effects on the eyes due to diabetes are called diabetic retinopathy.

Diabetic retinopathy has two stages. The initial stage is called 'non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy' and the second stage is called 'proliferative diabetic retinopathy'.

Non-proliferative retinopathy can be treated by controlling diabetes and regular eye check-ups. The treatment of proliferative diabetic retinopathy is done by laser method and by using injections to reduce the swelling of the eye membrane. During these procedures, sometimes surgery may be required due to bleeding in the eye membrane.

Its treatment is expensive because it takes a long time. It costs two to five thousand to check the condition of the curtain once. If surgery is required or injections to reduce swelling, it will cost between 25,000 and 1 lakh rupees.

Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration is a disease related to the retina. This eye disease occurs when the macula begins to change. The macula is a small (special) part of the retina and it is located in the inner layer of the eye. Macular degeneration usually occurs with age. As a result, the patient may lose his vision.

Its treatment is expensive as it takes a long time. It costs two to five thousand to check the condition of the screen once. It costs from 10,000 to 70,000 rupees for injections to reduce swelling.

Tearing of The Eyelids

Tearing of the eyelids is a serious problem. When the retina tears, the retina separates from the layer behind the eye. As a result, the blood circulation in the retina begins to decrease. If the retina remains detached for a long time, the person may lose their vision permanently. This problem is treated according to the complexity of the disease.

In most cases, surgery may be required. If the veil is torn but only a little, it can be treated with laser therapy. If the upper part of the curtain is wrinkled and torn, if it is not large, it can be treated with laser therapy by placing a special type of gas. It costs from 25 to 75 thousand rupees.

Visual Impairment

Visual impairment is usually an eye problem. Visual impairment is not being able to identify any object properly with the eyes. If the visually impaired people are using glasses, surgery is also done to remove the glasses.

With this surgery, the person with plus or minus power in the eye is made to adjust the power and not have to wear glasses. If the eyes are dry, if there is a wound or infection in the eye, or if there is a cataract, this surgery cannot be performed. This surgery costs around one lakh rupees.
